Black History Month- 2025

Honoring Black History Month:
Empowering Black Women & Families at Crittenton

At Crittenton, we believe Black history is more than a month- it’s a legacy of strength, resilience, and progress that deserves to be celebrated every day. This February, as we honor Black History Month, we also recognize the vital role Black women play in shaping our communities, despite the systemic challenges they often face.

A Commitment to Equity & Support

The reality is stark: Black women are three times more likely to die from pregnancy-related complications than white women, and black infants face a twice as high mortality rate. Economic barriers and disparities in healthcare access continue to impact Black mothers and their families at disproportionate rates. But at Crittenton, we are committed to breaking these cycles by providing life changing support that leads to brighter futures.

  • 57% of Crittenton clients identify as Black, and we are honored to walk alongside them on their journey to stability and success.
  • 100% of our clients receive safe and stable housing, ensuring that every woman and child in our program has a foundation to build upon.
  • 100 of our clients receive access to prenatal and healthcare, giving both mothers and babies a healthy start.
  • 100% of all babies born in our program were born healthy, a testament to the power of early intervention and compassionate care.
  • Our wraparound services prevent homelessness, trauma, and systemic disparities, ensuring that Black mothers and families receive the support they need to thrive.

Beyond This Month: A Year-Round Commitment

While Black History Month is an important time of reflection and celebration, our dedication to uplifting Black women and families doesn’t stop when February ends. Through housing assistance, healthcare access, educational opportunities, and economic empowerment, Crittenton is working to ensure that Black mothers and children can overcome barriers and build strong, independent futures.
